Cindy Lee Act of Tenderness. BbyBoy. 19m ago. I was a bit disappointed with this album. It feels like the lo-fi elements of this album are kinda too much, and don’t leave much space on the album for it to genuinely create a song that truly feels the emotions. Feb 21,  · While his former bandmates continue down the post-punk path as Preoccupations, Flegel has gone in a decidedly stranger direction under the alter ego Cindy Lee. Act of Tenderness was the project's.

Following the breakup of Calgarian post-punk band Women, its members diverged to create Viet Cong and the less-publicized no wave act Cindy Lee. Creative force Patrick Flegel’s delivery is a feminine falsetto, Sonic Youth -esque guitar work, and a sound reminiscent of earlys counterculture. Act of Tenderness is deliberately titled in that it identifies its Holy Grail from the get-go.

“Don’t let the world get you down.” An important but all too easy sentiment to forget within our complicated day-to-days, but one summed up quite heavenly and honestly by Cindy Lee Woland (alter ego of singer-songwriter Patrick Flegel, formerly of Women) late into the project’s new full-length, Act of Tenderness.
